The inner life of the cell

This 8 minute animation from Harvard allows students to go on a 3D journey through the cell "The Inner Life of the Cell" takes undergrads beyond textbooks and vividly illustrates the mechanisms that allow a white blood cell to sense its surroundings and respond to an external stimulus. That was the coolest thing i've ever seen that was related to cell biology. I think kids would be thrilled to see it. It was like watching a cool animated movie.

I agree...that was pretty sweet. Took me a second to really realize what I was watching but I could see kids of all levels enjoying this video.

There is a version out there that explains everything you are seeing. I think it's on You Tube. The commentary is way over the heads of the students but its useful for the teacher. The commentary is written for University students. I simply played the movie first with the music and allowed it to create a kind of magical atmosphere. Then the class asked questions and we watched again to point out various things that were going on.
